2.Stereotyping

************************************************************************************************************

Stereotyping is exaggerated generalizations associated with a categorizing system, they go beyond the facts at hand and make claims that usually have no valid basis. It is also something that most people fond difficult to avoid from doing. What do you think?

************************************************************************************************************

Stereotyping is a common thing. For example in Malaysia we tend to make an assumption or stereotype negatively of each races that exist in our country, for example the Chinese often labelled as lairs, the Indians as barbaric and the Malays as lazy.

No matter how hard we tried, stereotyping cannot be avoided. The least is that we all have done it once even myself. But stereotype are often proven wrong when researches are done and facts have been given.

For example the racial stereotyping that happen in Malaysia are proven wrong where not all Chinese are liars, a lot of them are actually honest and sincere. Not all Indians are barbaric, the narrow minded one does but with the new era of modernization those characteristic have changed drastically. The Malays for instance which were labelled lazy are now more involved with business.

In conclusion, stereotyping cannot be avoided but if proven wrong, one should accept it openly. An individual is who she/he is and should not be speculated by his/her races or any other related background information.
